Goals:

This project aims to

- learn about one´s own culture and the variety of cultures

- learn about the use of modern techniques in communication

- learn about sustainable development and carrying out acts concerning the theme

- create and maintain contacts between the partners.

 

What we have been doing:

-Using techniques:

*E-mail correspondance between the Finnish classes in Ylitornio and Pello:

groups read the same short story, then e-mail-contacts in groups and at the end of the course 
discussions by videoconference equipment

*E-mail correspondence between Pello and Manual High School: learning about each other´s cultures

*Speech courses have had e.g. videoconference debates

*Courses in Italian and Astronomy with the help of Internet and videoconference

-Learning about each other´s cultures:

*Visits to one another´s  schools: Övertorneå, Ylitornio, Pello, Manual High School
         Visiting Manual High School

*The experience of our exchange student

- Learning about one´s own culture:

*Theatre plays, movies and literature, History, Religion

*Writing essays concerning culture

*Reading literature

*Telling about your own culture in English, Swedish, German, French, Russian, Finnish

- Learning about sustainable development:

*Discussions about the theme in different subjects, like Geography, Biology, History, 
 Religion,  Languages, Chemistry, Physics

*Participating in collections to help: Finland´s Red Cross, Unicef for the girls of Nepal

*Collecting clothes for an orphanage in Murmansk, Russia
